The Local Pharmacist's Unofficial Guide to Summer

Updated: May 29, 2020

Most people coincide Memorial Day with the unofficial start to summer. Finally beautiful weather and fun outdoor activities. Over the next couple of weeks, I will be going over some safety tips and topics to keep you safe and healthy and to maximize your summer fun!

Let’s start with a simple summer kit. Similar to a first aid kit, but more of an emphasis on summer needs and necessities.

Put together a little tote or tackle box full of travel-size products to keep with you or in the car if needed.

-Sun Screen

-Insect Repellent

-Aloe or Lidocaine gel

-Benadryl

-Tylenol

-Tweezers

-Hydrocortisone Cream

-Antiseptic

-Water

These products will help cover the basic needs for summer “emergencies.” Sunburns, insect bites, and heat stroke are a few of the possible concerns with outdoor summer activities. If you are in a situation where some or all of these products are needed, please also seek the help of a medical professional to make sure more advanced care is not needed.
